Supporting Paul Muszanskyj celebrate 18 years cancer-free

On the 22 June 2013 we were privileged to be invited to attend “Remission” a charity event hosted by local Yorkshire musician Paul Muszanskyj of Brighouse, to celebrate 18 years of him being free from cancer.

Paul, who  is now a business owner, said: “The objective is simple: to raise as much money as possible to support the vital work of Ward 15 at the Bradford Royal Infirmary as they continue to help patients and their families live and cope with cancer.

The event took place at Farnley Sports and Social Club in Leeds. Paul’s aim was to take friends, family and supporters through an uplifting musical journey of one man’s experience of coming to terms with, taking on, surviving and living life after cancer.

We had a fantastic evening listening to original songs written by Paul and his band, Future Colours, set to specially commissioned video and narration. There were also appearances by guest musicians, along with stories of those who have battled and are battling this disease.

Paul added: “I’d like to say a huge thank you as everyone involved with this event gave their time free of charge including helpers, musicians, sound engineers, photographers, designers, web developers and others, with the simple aim of making it a highly profitable, enjoyable and worthwhile evening for all concerned.” The end fundraising result certainly was, with the final total closing in on £5,000.

Consultant oncologist, Dr Sue Cheesman, said:

“Paul is an inspiration to us all but especially to our patients here in Bradford with cancer. He is 18 years free of cancer which is fantastic but, like all patients who come into contact with the Big C, he faced many issues during his journey.

Coming back to us nearly two decades later to organise this fundraising evening is just fantastic. All the monies raised from this event will help other patients finding themselves in the same situation. We thank him very much and say keep up the amazing work for Bradford!”

This is a cause very close to our hearts because a number of our employees have lost someone dear to cancer so if you would like to help Paul in his pledge please visit www.staytuned2.co.uk or to make a donation please visit www.justgiving.com/remission
